1956-60 Studied BA (Hons) Fine Art, King's College, University of Durham
1961-84 Taught Sculpture at Sunderland and Wolverhampton Colleges
1985-Present Full time practising artist 1985

Founder member and a Vice President of BAMS and of the International Art Medal Federation.

Exhibited extensively in solo and group exhibitions in the UK and abroad.

  • Medallic work has been regularly include in the Bi-annual exhibitions of FIDEM and shown in London, Stockholm, Helsinki, The Hague, Paris, Weimar, Neuchatel, Budapest, Florence, Lisbon, Seixal and Colorado Springs.

A major retrospective was held at the Royal Coin Cabinet of Sweden in 2004.

Work is in many international public and private collections and commissioned medals undertaken for private and public clients including The Royal Mint and The British Museum.

Many articles written by Dutton have appeared in The Medal, the journal of the British Art Medal Society and critiques and comment on his work have been included in many other journals.
